EcoSee [ee-co-see] What's In A Name?

I am a member of the North American Nature Photography Association, have previously worked for the NPS in the area of population biology, and have an educational background in conservation biology. I work as a manager in the education division at the California Academy of Sciences and teach photography workshops for adults. EcoSee (Verb): To perceive with the eye, view, or comprehend the relationships between organisms and their environment. To record, by photograph, one’s visual and cognitive perception of his or her biological world. It's how you see the world.

Conservation Photography

Typically, pressing the shutter defines the photographer with planning and execution culminating in the photograph. A conservation photographer’s work begins once they click the shutter. It’s what you do with these images that matters as it takes you into the active roll of effecting conservation for the natural world.
Travel Photography

While my photography started out with an eye for the natural world, I soon developed a love of travel and photography that gives you a sense of place. I have traveled and photographed in 17 countries around the world and strive to keep that number growing.
Introduction To Your DSLR

In this workshop, I touch on basic features of the DSLR camera. Topics include choosing lenses and filters, ISO, white balance, shutter, aperture and program modes, EV, exposure, bracketing, focusing, resolution, histograms and more. Additional topics include managing the digital workflow, post production, color management, and simple web publishing.
Introduction To Adobe Lightroom

In this workshop I take you through the steps of setting up Adobe Lightroom through to how to do basic web publishing. We cover the basic features of the library mode and how to organize your collection. We also cover the basic editing features of the develop module and then take a more in depth look at some of the powerful plug-ins that can be used to perfect your images in the digital darkroom.
