Design Portfolio

I most often work with clients in the fields of meditation & mindfulness, health & wellness, environmental stewardship, and conservation photography. I also welcome the opportunity to work with almost anyone dedicated to promoting healthy living and a better world. Below, you will find some examples of the major projects which I’ve produced at EcoSee Design Studio over the last few years.

Now Children

Project Details

This project was centered on building a “Community Hub” for professionals in the fields of elementary education and mindfulness so they could have a way to come together in support of bringing mindfulness to the classroom. I played a central role in helping the two principal partners develop the business model and then integrate a variety of tools to launch their vision.

The whole system ties together a WordPress-powered website with a Kajabi online course platform to deliver a year-long video training program while making use of Kajabi’s integrated marketing tools. We also employed a Calendly scheduling tool with outreach efforts. The whole system integrates with major social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram for marketing efforts.

Big Picture Competition

Project Details

I designed this project to help engage the California Academy of Sciences in an international conversation about sustainability issues while centering the conversation in awe and wonder of the natural world. I assembled a talented team that included the museum’s Director of Design, Social Media Director, and a few lead communications-focused scientists to work on this project.

I led the recruitment of a world-class panel of judges quickly leading to this competition being recognized as one of the top 10 photo competitions of any genre anywhere in the world.

I designed and managed the original website, social media channels, photo submission system, judging platform, and assets management system to deliver the winning images to the museum exhibition team for annual display and awards.

Introductory Mindfulness

Project Details

This project leverages a restricted content WordPress plugin to create an online course platform. It is possible to create an unlimited number of membership plans and individualize the experience of the course for specific groups by linking the membership plan to group-specific content. The result is a very dynamic experience for students where the pages serve different material to different sets of members.

The whole system integrates with the powerful WooCommerce platform which is written and maintained by the same team that produces the WordPress core system ensuring compatibility and a smooth experience for the end customers. Additionally, the system has its own inbuilt Newsletter that automatically subscribes students to their cohort’s customized newsletter so the instructor can communicate with each class without ever leaving the WordPress environment. This gives the added benefit of cost savings by not requiring the use of one of the paid newsletter services. Powerful, clean, and flexible.

Awake in the Wild

Project Details

Mark Coleman is a leading mindfulness meditation teacher, and nature guide who has been teaching nature-based mindfulness practices for over 20 years. In the past few years, he has begun to offer apprenticeship training in contemplative nature practice, inspired by traditional Buddhist wisdom.

This project was designed to bring together the expanding group of nature-based mindfulness teachers to offer programs around the world that help people connect to their inner and outer landscapes. The 50+ trained teachers are now looking to build off of this foundation to inspire people to develop a relationship with the natural world.

This website empowers these teachers to list their own events through a shared calendar system as well as provide them with outlets to teach and tell their stories through the site blog and social media channels.

WP Site Service

Project Details

This project brought itself to life after I began to design sites for my clients who then asked if I was available to stay on and help manage their sites. I built this site on WordPress and integrated the service plans with a world-class helpdesk system so clients can submit requests through the service. The platform integrates a WooCommerce store with a Stripe-powered subscription service to automate client payments. Client information is then imported into a client management platform in order to seamlessly monitor the sites for security, uptime, and code maintenance. Clients can choose the maintenance plan that best suits their needs and have the option to subscribe monthly, quarterly, or annually.

Spirit Rock Meditation Center

Project Details

Spirit Rock is one of the most well-respected meditation retreat centers in the United States. For the past 30 years, their programs have been offered almost exclusively on the 430-acre campus North of San Francisco. When the pandemic broke out in late 2019, the center quickly needed to pivot to offering online programs in order to continue to offer programs when people really needed them the most.

As their former manager of community programs, I was able to jump right in to build an online learning platform that could meet a complex set of backend organizational needs. In just a couple of weeks, I brought a new platform online that could integrate with their registration system and offer courses to people around the world. The platform was built on WordPress with LearnDash and Uncanny Owl plugins as the heart of the backend system to manage courses and students seamlessly with the center’s existing systems which were originally designed to support in-person programs.

Juliana Sloane

Project Details

After years of dedicated study and training, Juliana was ready to launch her healing practice in a powerful therapeutic modality that stands at the crossroads of Buddhism, shamanism, hypnotherapy, and transpersonal psychology. A spiritually-oriented counseling form, depth hypnosis offers tools that help clients unravel stuck patterns, resolve issues deeply, and connect with their own innate wisdom.

Together, we designed a website that helps communicate Juliana’s offerings and clearly explains the three main areas of her practice and how they come together in service of her clients. This site integrates a scheduling system for her clients as well as a well-integrated newsletter and calendar system to highlight programs and classes she offers to the public. The driving goal was to create a clean and clear website that transmits the values and service that Juliana offers.

Brian Simmons

Project Details

Brian Simmons is a New York City-based mindfulness teacher who focuses on bringing Mindfulness into the NYC school systems as well as helping people navigate the changing stages of life. When designing his website, Brian was clear that he wanted something that reflected the “gritty” city where he lives and works. He was clear that he did not want to present an often classic meditation look of balancing rocks and calm nature settings. He has lived and worked in NYC for decades and wanted a website that was true to his environment. We built this clean a simple website so Brian could feature some of his writing and podcasts as well offer people an easy way to follow him through his calendar or newsletter.
